Historical Summary: ="Galena Daily Gazette 6 November 1867 A House-Warming Mr. Schreiner’s new music hall and refreshment rooms on Franklin street have been completed and were opened to the public by a gratuitous entertainment given by Mr. Schreiner on Monday evening. There was a large number of people present who were entertained by some fine music from Schreiner’s Band, and had a good time generally. This is one of the finest buildings that has been erected in Galena for some years. It is about fifty feet square—containing two high stories, besides a basement and an attic. The first story is divided into four commodious square rooms. In the second story there is a hall 50x25 (feet), and two square rooms. The hall is intended principally for musical entertainments. It is a pleasant room, neatly finished and lighted with gas. A dedicatory ball will be held in the hall next Monday evening." |
