Historical Summary: ="Dr. Horatio Newhall established plat between Hickory and Summit Streets, lot 15 and 17. George Fahrig purchased the lots for $120 on 3/15/1855. The stone house was probably built that year. His wife died in 1851 - he lived in stone house alone until 1873. Magdalena Metzgar, who lived in stone house next door on Lot 13, purchased it from Fahrig family in 1885. Magdalena Metzgar died in 1913, and both houses were vacant for over 25 years. McGuire family purchased property in 1939 and lived there for 32 years, adding lots 9,10,11,12,14 and 16 to the property. Electric service was installed in 1940. A well was drilled in mid-1970s. The house on lot 13 was torn down and the wood from that house was used to heat the house on lots 15 and 17."
